Dynamic Websites
There are two types of websites, namely static HTML sites and dynamic data-driven sites. There are a number of dynamic webpage languages available. Suncoast Software Systems uses the ASP method of building dynamic web pages.
A dynamic website is able to retrieve information, normally stored in a database, which is then incorporated into the webpage.
Most business information is stored in databases within the business intranet. The addition of a web server and a dynamic website allows the business data to be available to the internet.
The site may be as simple as a shopping cart, which allows a business to operate 24/7 over the internet. The cart is able to accept product orders and, if desired, on-line credit card payments.
Wholesalers are able to accept orders from retailers and retailers are then able to track the order status. In this way there is often no need for any direct interaction between the businesses concerned.
Dynamic websites require specialist programming skills which is of a much higher order than the WYSIWYG webpage creation which is involved in static websites. The theory of database construction and computer programming in code is required.
